Lecture on the Legal Regulation of Artificial Intelligence in Serbia, the EU and the USA

Učesnici predavanja u Comtrade prostoriji razgovaraju o pravnoj regulativi veštačke inteligencije

On Tuesday, 21 May, a lecture on the legal regulation of artificial intelligence in Serbia, the EU and the USA was held at the Comtrade premises. The lecture was delivered by Zoran Naumović and Ivana Živković Rusalić, attorneys at Naumović & Partners Law Firm, who addressed the key challenges and opportunities presented by generative artificial intelligence (AI).

Tanja Lazarević, Director of Operations at SAM, introduced the speakers and at the very beginning invited the host of the event to address the audience. Srećko Miodragović, Advisor to the President at Comtrade, welcomed the attendees.

During the lecture, participants discussed how artificial intelligence is changing our lives and society — from the way we live and work to the way we make decisions. Special attention was paid to the question of whether current legal frameworks and governance strategies are sufficient to regulate AI systems, and how to protect individuals and society from potential risks.

Key topics included the mitigation of bias in AI systems, privacy protection and the accountability of algorithmic systems. The participants also explored the ways in which manufacturers and distributors of AI systems can protect their businesses from lawsuits and regulatory penalties.

Attendees were introduced to the legal framework in the Republic of Serbia, the European Union and the United States of America, with a special focus on the recently adopted EU AI Act. Practical applications, ethical issues and data protection were also part of the discussion.

We would like to thank Comtrade for their hospitality and support, as well as all participants who contributed to the discussion. This event provided an opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and experience and laid the groundwork for future discussions on this important topic.
