Monodrama Prima Facie: Socially Engaged Art as a Chance for a Fairer and Better Future
It is a great honour and pleasure for Naumović & Partners Law Firm to be a small piece of the mosaic in the making of this very important theatrical work — both from an artistic perspective and from the standpoint of broadening legal and social awareness.
Prima Facie is a play with a higher purpose — to inform, to caution, and to potentially bring about a long-term shift in the way cases of sexual abuse are perceived. This is not a play that condemns; rather, it points to the changes that are waiting to happen.
Written by Australian playwright Suzie Miller, a former attorney with experience in representing human and children’s rights, the play had its world premiere in Australia in 2019 before a full house of judges, attorneys, lawyers, trainees and employees of the judicial system.
Today, our audience also had the opportunity to watch this powerful monodrama, in which a courageous woman proudly wears the armour of a survivor — fighting for her truth, making a bold step forward, overcoming judgement and her own fear, and confronting the entire socio-legal system with dignity.
We believe it is important to actively participate in such engaged artistic discourse, which in a non-judgmental way broadens our everyday horizons, drawing attention to the intimacy of the individual as well as the collective social consciousness that is calling out for change.
