Board of Directors

A start-up board of directors is a group of people (or even just one person) whose primary function is to monitor the start-up, not the day-to-day business of a start-up.

The board of directors makes higher-level decisions, including decisions on the capital or sale of the company (although in certain situations, start-up owners will have to approve a transaction originally approved by the board of directors).
